Remarks – Reigning EOS Champion and title favourite Lee Martin is running his same Yokomo YZ2 as used to win the opening round of the EOS 2 weeks ago in Germany. The car is fitted with the same setup he used at the Worlds warm-up race back in June and is using new aluminium caster hubs which are more stiff than the regular plastic versions. Using a lightweight version of the kit body, the new super lightweight rear wing from LMR is being used with a carbon stiffener resulting in wing package that is lighter than a regular thickness lexan rear wing.

Remarks – Current Reedy Race Champion Ryan Maifield is running an all new 22 development car made specifically for carpet racing. Like others, the new chassis is wider to allow the battery to be mounted sideways which allows the motor to be move significantly further forward. Along with the new lower 3 gear transmission there is the new front and rear wishbones. Finishing off the car, Ryan is running the all new SC2 body from JConcepts for use with the new lower transmission car.

Chassis Focus – Naoto Matsukura

Remarks – Home track favourite Naoto Matsukura is running an updated WC version of the Ultima RB6 from Kyosho. Featuring a wider chassis that allows the battery to now also be mounted sideways to allow for different mounting position options. The motor has been mont 12mm further forward and the car has a much lower rear drive train, ideal for high traction carpet conditions. The rear upper camber link mount has now also been made from aluminium which replaces the weaker kit plastic version. Finally, the 4-time onroad World Champion is using a prototype body shell and front winglet from sponsor X-Gear.

Chassis Focus – Joern Neumann

Remarks – Serpent Factory driver Joern Neumann is running the latest 2.2 version of the S811 Cobra buggy. Alongside running readily available optionals the German is also using a pre production carbon plate on the steering rack which gives the car a different Ackermann setting. In terms of setup it is the same as when he tested here with the exception of the rear toe which has been reduced to help give the car more steering. He has also been playing around with tires and while he has been using mostly Suburbs in qualifying he may switch to Blockades for the finals.

Remarks – World’s Finalist and Rd4 Top Qualifier Alex Zanchettin is running the 8ight 3.0 with a number of small changes. At the rear he is using the shock tower from the electric version of the 8ight as it allows the upper camber links to be mounted lower thanks to the additional holes, while in the transmission he is using the Reds Racing clutch which he says gives him smoother power delivery. In terms of setup he is reverting back to his warmup setup as the track gets bumpier.

Remarks – Winner of the Euros Warmup on this track earlier in the year, Elliott is running a different configuration on his car as well as setup here at the Ongaroring this week. Up front he is using the new MS taller shock tower and longer shock absorbers as well as the new low downforce rear wing mount, which helps the car turn better. In terms of setup compared to when they tested here the conditions have changed from high grip to medium and so they have reverted back to one of their UK setups. Also having run Blockades back in May, he has now settled on PL Diamond Back tires, going for the relatively soft X3 compound.
