Remarks – Yokomo’s rising star Naoki Akiyama has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying here at the DHI Cup and is set to start third on the grid for tomorrow’s A-Main. Using an aluminium chassis, his BD8 is pretty standard, titanium screws and turnbuckles being the only options used by the Japanese driver, together with a 40g centre weight.

Chassis Focus – Wilhelm Skjöldebrand

Remarks – Promising 13-year-old Swedish driver Wilhelm Skjöldebrand is set to start the 2WD A-Main as best of the Team Associated cars here in Odense. His car features a JConcepts front wing, front and rear sway bars and an aluminium steering bellcrank. He is also using steel weight plates under the servo and the ESC, while the under LiPo weight is brass. They also decided to lift the gearbox by 2mm, this improving the forward traction on the car and giving a better feeling for the driver.

Chassis Focus – Michal Orlowski

Remarks – Reigning DHI Champion Michal Orlowski is running a very interesting version of the Cougar KF2 which features a number of prototype parts conceived and realised by his engineer Tristram Neal. First and most important is a 3-gear transmission, that allows for an opposite motor spin direction for a better gyroscopic effect. The chassis flex is now adjusted by two carbon side stiffeners that work together with a new split top deck, so as to take stiffness away from the top of the car. The rear shock tower now features new holes towards the inside of the vehicle. Michal is also using a under-LiPo brass weight.

Remarks – Xray factory driver Alexander Hagberg is running the ’17 version of the Slovakian made T4 here at the DHI Cup in Odense. His car features an aluminium chassis, an aluminium steering system and low friction belts. The Swede’s T4 is also equipped with Hiro Seiko titanium and aluminium screws and Avid bearings. The wing of choice on his LTC-R body is the hard version of the Protoform wing.

Remarks – German Yokomo driver Marc Rheinard is running the CA version of the YZ-2 equipped with the new Yatabe springs, a Yokomo front wing and mount and is not using the front anti roll bar which is actually detached. He is also using titanium screws and a new, harder graphite compound for the rear wishbones.

Remarks – Awesomatix team manager Max Machler is testing here at the DHI Cup their latest version of the A800 called “X”. The new car features a longer chassis for an increased wheelbase, with the servo position also brought forward compared to the previous version. The sway bar mounts now feature ball bearings, and the top deck has been revised in shape and its centre mount is also new. The bulkheads and the spur mount have also been slightly updated in order to offer a better belt tension adjustment, while the shape of the wishbones has been changed to obtain more clearance to the rims at full steering lock. The linear steering system is now standard in the kit, and the hubs have been updated in the search for better handling in high bite conditions.
