Remarks – After topping practice, Dario Balestri went on to take round 1 of qualifying here in Gubbio driving his Capricorn Lab C03. The car is equipped with new differentials that feature a different case material meant to reduce friction and to better handle high temperatures. With his setup coming out of the work done on the many visits to this track throughout the year, he is also using the optional aero bumper, lightweight screws and a set of Avid ceramic bearings.

Remarks – Top qualifier at the 2014 World Championships in Bangkok, Serpent factory driver Dominic Greiner is running the same new smaller diffs as his team mate Mazzeo, with a whole set of Serpent’s electric touring car big bore shock absorbers, aluminium wheel axles, a chassis stiffener just above the clutch and brass adjustable weights.

Remarks – 2012 World Champion Meen Vejrak is in attendance at this Worlds edition in Gubbio behind the wheel of a Capricorn car. His LAB C03 features the new aluminium rear differential, lightweight rear driveshafts and an optional aero front bumper. He is also using titanium screws on the top deck.

Remarks – Reigning World Champion Alexander Hagberg is here in Gubbio to defend his title running an updated 2016 version of the NT1. His car is equipped with a prototype chassis with less rear flex, a prototype ackermann plate that reduces the ackermann angle and prototype low friction pulleys in a distinctive orange colour. He is also using a number of option parts, such as a softer front anti-roll bar, short shock springs, a one piece motor mount, Hiro Seiko lightweight screws and Avid ceramic bearings.

Chassis Focus – Robert Pietsch

Remarks – Former Worlds Top Qualifier and European Champion Robert Pietsch is running a slightly updated version of the Japanese MTX-6. His car sports a new chassis that allows for weight distribution fine tuning without affecting the flex of the car and features smaller cuts in the rear to reduce flex in that section. He has also hand modified the radio tray so that it can be fixed or floating to fine tune the flex of the car.

Remarks – 2008 1/10th 200mm World Champion Daniele Ielasi is back racing this class after a long hiatus at the controls of the new WRC prototype. Only using outsourced lower suspension arms, everything else in the car is designed and produced by the Italian company, the rear end sporting the same magnetic brake feature as used in their 1/8th scale car.
