Chassis Focus – Ryan Cavalieri

lrsat-cavrc8b3-1

Chassis – Associated RC8B3
Engine – MX B2R
Tyres – AKA Grid Iron 2 Super Soft

Body – JConcepts Prototype

Remarks – 2014 World Championship runner up Ryan Cavalieri is running the Associated RC8B3 with a setup collected from multiple tests at the track in Vegas in the build up to this race. Confident before the first run that the setup should be good from the start, it differs from their standard 1/8th setup in that it features different wishbone angles as well as universals in the front to help free up the front end, the car normally feeling slower in the corners on this surface. Cavalieri is also running a prototype bodyshell from JConcepts, but more on that later.

New in the Pits – Reedy

LRSat-Reedy510R-3

Reedy are debuting their all new electronic speed controller, the 510R, at the ISTC World Championships in Beijing. Having also run it at the 1/12th portion of the championships, the 2S only speedo needed to use a booster to make it work, but is a simple drop fit into touring car, as well as EP offroad. Essentially a revised 410, it has completely new more robust hardware and updated software which offers much more tuning options. With the ability to switch between basic and expert mode, the 2nd mode offers customisation of the brakes and throttle as well different timing options. The programming box can save 5 different profiles and also allows you to download settings from other speedos to be used on your own. Expected to be available in October with a similar price to the current speedo.

Chassis Focus – PY Tang

Chassis – ARC R11
Motor – ORCA RT 4.5T
ESC –  ORCA VX3
Battery – ORCA 6300mAh HV Gen2

Radio/Servo – Sanwa/Xpert

Remarks – Top Singapore driver PY Tang is using the R11 from ARC with some new protype parts including motor mount and a new coating on the shock absorbers. Running optional low friction belts and pullies as well as hard plastic parts, PY came to the race with his base setup but has worked hard to get the car to steer more, changing to softer rear diff oils and harder shock oils. Still looking for more he has changed from progressive to liner springs while fine tuning the settings on his electronics to get more consistent power throughout the run.
