Car: Yokomo B-Max2 MR “WC”
Motor: Yokomo 6.5
ESC: Viper
Batteries: Protek Rc
Radio/Servo: Sanwa/Xpert

Racing at only his second international race since joining Yokomo, following his debut in Berlin on EOS’s carpet track, the British ace has adapted well to his new Japanese mid-motored buggy. Choosing a “shortie” battery pack instead of the saddle pack he uses when traction is high, he said he has only needed to tweak the shocks setup, going for lighter oil and springs, combined with small changes to the camber links. In terms of aerodynamics he has chosen for the new “Avior” wing produced by his own LMR brand.

Car: Associated B4.2 with Centro C4.2 conversion
Motor: Orion 6.5
ESC: Orion
Batteries: Orion
Radio/Servo: Airtronics

With the recently announced B5 still not available, even for team drivers, Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri is still running the traditional “Centro” C4.2 conversion on his B4.2. Very happy with his car, Ryan told us that he is running his basic setup for this track apart from the use of a low profile servo and a front roll center adjustment, with the aim of getting the car to sit more on the front in the corners and give a more precise feeling on the steering wheel.

Car: TLR 22-4
Motor: Orion 5.5
ESC: Orion
Batteries: Orion
Radio/Servo: Spektrum

Former Reedy Race of Champions winner Dustin Evans is running a fresh 22-4 from the first production batch. Only receiving and building it last week it sports a development after market cab forward body which he says is more aggressive and gives plenty of steering at low speeds. In terms of setup he has been trying a lot of different things to try and improve the balance of the car, which is a compromise between improving steering while trying to maintain rear traction.

Car: Kyosho Ultima RB6
Motor: Orion 7.5
ESC: Orion
Batteries: Orion
Radio/Servo: KO Propo
Tires: JConcepts Barcodes (event controlled tires)

The current 2WD World champion, Kyosho’s Jared Tebo is running a pretty stock version of the mid-motored RB6 from the Japanese factory. Apart from the use of yellow in his body and wheels, the American ace told us his car hasn’t change much in terms of setup from the one he used at the Worlds in Chico. To deal with the low traction at the OCRC track he has had to play with his shock setup, changing pistons and oils to achieve the desired result.

Chassis – Team C TM2
Motor – Muchmore
ESC – Muchmore
Battery – Muchmore
Radio – Sanwa
Servo – Spektrum
Tires (Handout) – Schumacher

The Swedish ace is still running the original version of the mid-motored TeamC buggy, saying he didn’t receive the “V2” kit yet. Delighted with the performance of his car, he told us that he is using a slightly different setup from what he used back at home to win 2 VBC championship rounds. To deal with the demanding track he is running a thinner sway bar and shorter front links this make his car more reactive without losing rear traction on the loose areas. His front tyres of choice are the popular Schumacher Stagger Ribs.

Four times DHI Cup champion Ronald Volker is running the new 2014 version of the successful BD7 platform in the beautiful “all black” look, equipped with a Mazdaspeed6 body from Protoform. The main new features are the new ackermann that is meant to give more steering and a different motor mount designed to vary the flex of the chassis to make the car more aggressive. The new parts now also allow for superfine adjustments thanks to smaller possible adjustment steps.
